Lino Printing Classes

NEW!! Gift vouchers now available for private lino printing tuition

Are you considering buying lino printing tuition as a gift for someone? I can now offer gift vouchers that can be purchased for lino workshops. There is no need to book a date for the workshop beforehand unless you would like to.
You can pay for the vouchers using the same methods as below; simply contact me afterwards to let me know that the payment is for a voucher.
I will then post the vouchers to you first class at no additional cost and you will also receive one of my blank greetings cards that you can write a personal message in. Or if you like I can send the voucher and card straight to the recipient; you may like to give me a personal message to write inside the greetings card.

Private Lino Printing Day Workshops at my home studio in Bicester

I'm pleased to announce that I can now offer dedicated linocut tuition at my home studio in Bicester. Whether you are completely new to lino printing or want to improve a particular aspect of your work, you'll have my undivided attention!
My lino workshops can be on a 1-to-1 basis, or 1-to-2 if you would like to come with a friend or relative.
I'll help you plan, execute and complete a print in a day using the ‘reduction’ linocut method. This is a multi-colour relief printing technique which involves cutting and printing a few layers of colour from the same block of lino in order to build up an image.
We will cover how to plan a design and transfer it to the lino; how to cut the lino; how to ink up the lino and how to print it.  Most students manage to print three to four colours. I do have a small relief press and a larger press, but I normally show students how to burnish the prints by hand. This way you can easily replicate the process at home with minimal equipment.
You will also learn how to correctly register your prints so that each layer of colour lies directly on top of the previous layer.

Standard hours for day bookings are 10am-4pm. I charge £150 for one person for the day or £220 for two people (£110 each). This includes all your materials and as much tea or coffee as you can drink!

Bicester is in North West Oxfordshire. The main roads in and out of Bicester are the M40, the A34, and the A41.
There are two train stations within walking distance or short taxi ride to my house. They are on the Chiltern Railways line. Bicester North station is closer - a 10/15 minute walk and Bicester Village station is a 20/25 minute walk. It would be easy to get a taxi from either station if you did't fancy the walk.
The Oxford to Cambridge Stagecoach X5 bus service stops in the town centre, about 10 minutes walk from my house.

Group workshops at Claydon Gallery

In 2018 I am running a few more group workshops with Claydon Gallery which is set in the historic Courtyard of Claydon Estate in Buckinghamshire. Last year's workshops were a lot of fun.

Workshops for very large groups

I can't easily fit more than two students at my home studio and eight students together at Claydon Gallery.
If you are a group of more than eight and you are interested in doing a lino printing workshop, please get in touch as I can hire alternative venues, or perhaps you have access to a suitable venue?

I am happy to do demonstrations for groups and societies, please get in touch if you are interested.
