Artist's Statement

I studied Art throughout my school career and naturally choose to do a creative degree. Although I have always loved to paint, I also enjoy working three-dimensionally, so I chose to study a 3D degree - Design: Crafts at Staffordshire University.
Here I found a love for working with metal and ultimately working in silver and making jewellery. Since graduating from university I have been concentrating on my silver jewellery business.

You can see my unique handmade silver jewellery by visiting my website www.alexandrabuckle.co.uk

Now that the jewellery business has been up and running for a while, I have recently felt the need to pick up a paintbrush again. A large plain wall in my living room had something to do with it too!
I don't have many paintings to show you at the moment, and I'm not one of these artists who will paint anything and everything just for the sake of it! I tend to be very selective.

I paint objects that capture my imagination or scenes that create a certain mood. I seek perfect composition and balance in my paintings, and very often the subject matter of the work is less important to me than capturing the correct colour or lighting effect.
